I got married I had a baby, I'm still an actress, artist, dancer, everything. Now that I'm also a mother, I care a lot more about the future. So every morning, for months now, I have done 3 news headlines on my Instagram @MamaMorningNews. When my daughter was only a few months old and I was learning how to "not sleep" like all parents learn. I was up at 4 am 5 am feeding her and trying not to fall asleep. I started reading the news, the more you know the harder it is to play dumb. Now that I am literally invested in the future, I felt by at the VERY least I could PAYING ATTENTION... maybe I could do something small for her future.

I need a place where people can easily access the links to the articles. So hopefully this works out, an "show me your sources" take. SHOW ME YOUR MATH, remember teachers always saying that? If you've ever met me or know anything about me then you probably know that Hawaiian hula is a gigantic part of my life and my growth. I've been dancing hula since I was a small child I studied the culture, I have family and generations in the islands, it is the reason why I pursue art and in many ways it is also my church. I have been a part of Hula Halau Keali'i O Nalani for almost 20 years and we are having our 25th anniversary at the Japanese American theater in Little Tokyo. We are performing with the world renowned singer and musician and Hawaiian extraordinaire Kuana. I am so honored and humbled to be dancing with my Ohana and such amazing talent. I feel so blessed. I was talking with a gentleman as we were both waiting for our name. Lately, I like to listen to 8 tracks with motivational speeches with beats as I get ready for my audition and do my makeup and hair. He asked motivation there's a difference between motivation and inspiration. When you are motivated you get pumped up and move far. When you are inspired you can change worlds. It reminded me years ago, I went to Chicago to study at Second City with Michael Gellman. I wanted so badly to learn from the best and he is one of the best, he has directed at Second City in Chicago since 1980! I spent a week 8 hours a day studying this technique in various ways and I had a blast. At the end of the week my last conversation with my teacher, before I flew back to Lalaland. "I would like to come back next year and study with you again!" He asked me, "Why?" Which I was very confused, "...Because I loved your class and I want to keep learning from you." "Did you not learn this week what I have to teach you. Don't take my class over and over again! Learn what you need to learn and go and grow." I was so inspired I came back to LA and started my own form to play with and my very own Improv Team "One Night Only", I put it together based on a forms that I had piece together from the years of improvisation, acting and theater I've taken. There is a difference between Motivation and Inspiration, a big difference. (Besides them being different words and all...
